Hey there - how's your Saturday going?

Check out the weather here at our place....

Yep just a little bit wet all along the SE coast of QLD tonight....not that I mind - perfect crafting weather.

So that's just what I've been doing....playing with the current challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room to be exact.....Week #105 "Spring is Near"....well not here in Australia it's not lol.

But the inspiration pic inspired me - just like it's supposed to ha ha -

Along with the pic, Char has asked -  "that you create a card or project inspired by the photo USING AT LEAST THREE COLORS FROM THE PICTURE and DRY EMBOSSING!"

Well, too easy :-) I chose teal, pink and lime green and the pots of paint inspired me to dry brush some paint on my spotted embossing panels along the bottom of my card....here 'tis -

Paper is from the very sweet Simple Stories Fabulous Paper Pad:-) Image is from The Graphics Fairy and the lush pink flower is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Hey there! How are you this morning? TGIF hey:-)))

Since I'm all ready to head off to work but am ever so patiently (!) waiting for two teens to get ready, thought I'd pop on here and post my latest card.

I used the latest Cardabilities sketch #25 cause I just LOVE the label shape on the front:-))

 
So I pulled out my Labels 8 Nesties, Thrift Shop papers from October Afternoon, Copics and my There She Goes Day or Night stamp set and here's the result......

Verve Week 3

 
Hey there....I hope you've had a great week!

I'm back to share my card for week 3 of the Verve Challenges over at Splitcoast. This week we had to choose a card from the newest dirty girl Jackie Pedro's Gallery and CASE it.....well that's not too hard now is it :-))

I fell in love with this beautiful card of Jackie's and because I had that stamp set I kept the flowers, layout and colours the same and played with the embossing, ribbon and extra embellies.

and blog surfing....I have whipped up a card for this weeks 2 Sketches 4 you Challenge....here's the sketch...

 
I had these poinsettia flowers sitting on my desk...they were a freebie from Anna's Craft cupboard...Anna just threw them in with my latest order...isn't that sweet!....so I thought "I might use those flowers!"...

 
I used the Jamara EF on the Riding Hood Red piece....see the little join marks....I was going to leave little spaces between each piece but then didn't...now I look at it I should've just embossed a 2nd whole piece...aaah well! The doily is from Martha Stewart; rustic twine from Papertrey Ink; sentiment from PTI Holiday Button Bits and the lemon pearl brad is from American Crafts.

A Triple Combo

 
Hey there...how's your Wednesday going?

I have my DS home again today, just getting the energy levels back up after the bug yesterday. Nice to see the sun again today...it's been a while hasn't it!...good to get some washing out on the line for a change.

Last night I combined a few challenges for this card. They are the TSG Challenge for the week which is to use a kraft card base/black/white/one other colour and some dry embossing; the Caardvarks challenge for the week which was to scraplift a card from the DT...and I chose Tanis' card shown here....

 
aaaaaand the Crazy 4 Challenges challenge for the week which is to make a birthday card...too easy:-))

I had fun using a few new goodies...namely my PTI Big and Bold Wishes stamp set and the Martha Stewart Seam Binding I found at Spotlight the other day....I had fun dying it with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink...such a pretty colour.

 
I used my Martha Stewart butterfly punch and Provo Craft Butterfly Die/Embossing folder set for the 2 butterflies...cut from Fancy Pants Sweet Spring patterned paper. I inked the embossed area with a tad of Worn Lipstick ink....the EF is "Polka Dots" from Quickutz.

 

Alrighty better go and put the layers of the Kit Kat Cheesecake Slice together....the kids are loving having a SAHM for a change lol...homemade treats when they get home from school!

The Sweet Stop and Verve Challenges

I've been playing in my craft room as much as I can...in between loads of washing really lol....and have created a card for the last Verve sketch for the month and the latest Sweet Stop sketch.

Happy Hump Day!

Well it's hardly a hump day when you're not at work like me is it??? *lol*

Getting lots of time for lots of things these last few days....crafting.....washing.....cleaning....all things that I either want or need to get done;0)

As far as crafting goes I've been inspired to get a stash of "just because" cards set aside....so I've been playing with some smaller sizes and have so far created these.....

...lots of fun with sewing, by hand and with the machine and with a few different die-cuts on my Cuttlebug.

I've been inspired to create another pile of quick cards so I'll be back with those tomorrow.

I have had the loveliest evening.....just pottering in my craft room while the rest of the family buzzed around nearby doing their thing....LOVED it! No more nose buried in a book for me *lol*

Oooops AWOL:(

Oh dear...sorry about that.....I've been a slack blogger this week and I have a really bad excuse....

pathetic in fact....

I'm not happy with myself....

and it was all because of this....

and then this.....

I was totally sucked in to the whole saga....

like I'd been swallowed up and was spinning around in this huge vortex, unable to get out and totally consumed by the comings and goings of the weirdest group of characters I've ever met in my life.

What came over me? I hate vampire stories. I hate  scary stories too.

Well actually DD helped me there....by giving me a few hints as to what was coming up so I wouldn't totally freak out....that got me through....yep I'm a wuss and that's all there is to it! Guilty as charged!

But, you know what...I used to love to read but I just can't any more cause I love my card making/scrapping too and I just can't seem to do both...well I certainly haven't managed to in the last week or more. Pathetic! Thank God that's over...I really do feel a relief that now my life can get back to normal and I will have heaps of time (well some anyway) to create my little heart out. Stay away compelling, soppy sagas....I don't want to read you!! *lol*

Thankfully, I do have something creative to share...another layout for my Mum's Xmas Calendar....20cm x 20cm...such a lovely size to play with.

Love this pic of my brothers with their boys:)

I try to keep these fairly simple, fairly flat cause once the calendar is full with the 12 layouts it all adds up to a bit of bulk hanging on or more like off the wall.

Hey there...how are you today?

Hope you've enjoyed a lovely weekend. I'm soooo happy that here in QLD we have a long weekend and am looking very forward to a late night of creativity and a big sleep in tomorrow morning cause I don't have to go to work.

Happy 'almost' Friday everyone:-) Yippee the weekend is nearly here.

Today I have a card to show you that uses AlisaTilsner's Colour Challenge # 6 and fits the CPS Sketch #77 shown here. Because I just couldn't resist, I've used lots of the goodies I received from Melissa - like the Cuttlebug butterfly die and embossing folders, the scallop scissors and the Cropadile. Always fun to play with new bibs and bobs:-)

The colours in Alisa's challenge are of course SU's So Saffron/Certainly Celery/Soft Sky/Groovy Guava and Whisper White.

The little word stamps are from the Stampendous Flower Box Set.

Following a colour challenge or sketch like this is such an easy way to get started on a card....some of the ground work is already done for you, so to speak:-)

Watercoloured Flowers

Hope you're enjoying a good day whatever you're up to. I have a couple of cards to show you that I made a few months ago. I had fun with my water colour pencils on these. I've been working at improving my colouring skills....

The scalloped card has been shaped with Nestabilities (2 separate pieces joined together)...the bottom piece embossed with the Stylised Flower folder in the Cuttlebug. Coredinations card on the top part. The sparkly centres are Kindyglitzed.

I'm off now to play with a new stamp set that will be available in the Stampin' Up! Spring Mini Catalogue as of August 1. It is the "Always" set that I have admired on US blogs for months....can't wait to create with it myself. I love love love it....hope you will too.

Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Storage

Well as you know I love my "Bug" and especially the emb. folders so I had to find a way of storing my growing collection. I had this book on hand having picked it up very cheaply at Woolies one day, while grabbing the groceries. Thought I might scrap it one day....that was until it became my new storage device:) As you can see it's very rudimentary but does the trick beautifully.

Stuck 2 pages together along the bottom and side, cut a pocket out of the top so you can see the folder, stuck on a sample piece and labelled the page. As you can see it's not full yet;0)))

Well I'm off to hang out washing in the wind.....brrrrrr.....it's darn cold. Nothing compared to down south I'm sure but for us Qld'ers...it's cold!

Heartfelt Thanks Card

Hello again stampers and scrapbookers. Hope you're having a great day so far. As I was flicking through the original Australian Idea Book and Catalogue last night I came across a card using the Heartfelt Thanks Set. It inspired me to whip up this card for a special someone....who visits my blog so I shan't give it away;-)

 

Recognise the In Colours?....River Rock/Purely Pomegranate and Wild Wasabi.

Love the effect the 2 step stamping sets can achieve....very easily.

That's a splodge of Kindy Glitz in the centre. I've also used my Cuttlebug embossing folders (Swiss Dots and Stylised Flowers) as you can see.

Speaking of emb. folders maybe you'd like to see how I store them. I'll take some pics and get that up for tomorrow's post.

Shabby Chic??

Are you a fan of Shabby Chic? I love it in home decor...all that glorious white....yummm...and I must admit I love seeing a good Shabby Chic card like this (Melissa Phillips) or this (Beatrix Jennings) but when I try it myself....hmmmm.....just doesn't quite fall together easily.

I made 2 cards for a magazine call for Shabby Chic and this is the one they didn't like......maybe too much Shabby and not enough Chic hey:)..........well I guess 1 outta 2 ain't bad.

Maybe the bubbles embossing folder on the bird wasn't the best choice...looks like he has a nasty skin condition poor dear :0))

Well I'm off to finish packing for a Scrapbook Retreat this weekend....yippeee....how lucky am I!

Birthday Bonanza

I've been busy today making 2 cards for the Birthday Boys in our family this week....my Dad and my nephew...both celebrating on the same day, July 10. I had some fun with my Cuttlebug and the bubbles embossing folder for both these cards. The shiny numbers are the result of heat embossing with a versa mark pad and clear embossing powder. The star images are from a small Inque Boutique set.

Wedding Card

This could well be the first ever Wedding Card I have made. I usually chicken out and buy one thinking my handmade one will not be special enough.  It is for a beautiful friend who gets married this weekend and her favourite colour is turquoise...hence my colour choice on the card.

The grey background is dry embossed with the script Cuttlebug Folder. I've also used the bug to cut the turquoise Nestability scalloped circle and the white circle for the stamped image. Continuing my scallop addiction you see;0))

The image is from Stampin' Up!'s Fun and Fast Notes set....there's an image there for every occasion which is why I chose it:-)

What a gorgeous day it is today....Winter in Qld-you gotta love it.

Hope you have some time to dabble creatively today. I have 2 birthday cards to make so I will be busy....and loving it:)
