I don't think I've played with a Creative Scrappers Challenge before although I've long admired them.

It was great to have some time last week to create a layout about my daughter growing into a young woman.....

First of all the sketch.....

I adore layouts that show my children over the years....just love seeing the changes, the similarities, the cute little chubby baby cheeks lol :-)))

As soon as I laid eyes on Little Yellow Bicycle's SWOON Collection I did just that lol:-)

I knew I wanted to use it to scrap a photo or two of my Mum and Dad who celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary last year.

Don't you just love old photos - I sure do:-)

The Shabby Tea Room Week 114

I am so fond of the challenges over at The Shabby Tea Room - ( I have a GDT spot coming up with them soon yippee :-))) - I don't always get time to play each week but I'm chuffed that this week I did and it's such a beautiful inspiration picture to me......

....how beautiful is it!!!  Add to this the request from host Lenet to make a shaped project and here's the result......

...so happy I created a layout to match the challenge this time:-) - really enjoying my scrapping at the moment:-)

You can see I've adopted the pink background as per the inspiration pic and used blue papers and floral patterns as per the sweet little bucket.

....this little title tag is from Simple Stories Fabulous paper pad.

...this 'True Beauty' element is from Prima's Madeline A4 paper pad as are many of my background papers.

...love the new honeycomb Hambly overlay - so trendy right now :-)

Once Upon A Sketch May Challenge

It was a beautiful day up at Binna Burra....

We enjoyed lunch at the Tea House and then went for a walk to Bellbird Lookout - haven't been on that walk since the kiddies were 7 and 5!

Tonight I've had a chance to finish off my layout for the current Once Upon A Sketch Challenge...here's the fab sketch...

and the journalling prompt.....

Theme: Mum

We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "Mum" however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch.

I have used MME Miss Caroline range and love it to bits....I have very little of it left now:-(

China Dolls for Scrapbook Boutique

Woohoo it's Friday:-))

Not only that but it's the start of 2 weeks school holidays here in Qld - double yaaaay:-))

I'm so happy tonight to share with you my first layout for Scrapbook Boutique.

For my DT goodies this month I picked the fabbo Bo Bunny Serenity products because I knew they would work fabulously with my daughter's China Trip photos.

I have a step by step tutorial to explain how this layout went together....

Tutorial :

1. The Serenity Garden patterned paper will be your background.
2. From the Serenity Love paper cut a large circle approximately 25 cm in diameter – I traced around a saucepan lid to get the right sized circle.
3. Distress the edge of the circle and stitch with coordinating thread around the inside edge.
4. Using the Martha Stewart Daisy Border punch (or something similar), punch 3x 12cm strips from the Serenity Fans paper and then cut out each individual half daisy shape.
5. Adhere each half daisy to the back of the distressed circle so the black side is showing on the front.
6. Adhere this piece to the centre of your background paper.
7. Cut a 7cm wide strip of the Serenity Luck patterned paper and adhere it across the layout 12cm up from the bottom.
8. Adhere the circular blue/black sticker strip to the base of this piece.
9. Mat your photos on cream cardstock.

        10.  Cut out the maroon/gold artisan shape from the Serenity Cut Outs and adhere one of your                 photos to it.

        11.  Adhere this piece to the left hand side of the layout and the 2^nd photo up against it.

        12.  Complete your journalling card and adhere it to the right hand side.

        13.  Add your title letter stickers below the photos and accent with a flourish sticker and                 chipboard flowers.

        14.  Embellish the top left hand corner of the layout with 2 lanterns and one chipboard circle and                 dragon button, all tied with coordinating DMC thread.

        15.  Embellish the right hand side of the layout with a circle die cut, red flourish sticker and                 buttons.

        16.  Add your date stamp and you’re finished.

Once Upon A Sketch - March 15

Hey there....hope you're having a GREAT Thursday:-)

I had a lovely time playing the other night with the current challenge up at Once Upon A Sketch. I love Nadia's sketches and as I always love to add journalling to my pages to give them more meaning I love the journalling prompts that OUAS also include.

Here's the sketch and details....

Journalling Criteria: Finish this line "I miss...".

Ideas for journalling: missing time alone with your partner, missing your old self, missing your children because they are off to school, university or living away from you, missing your children being young, missing a friend you have not seen in a while, someone in another country, someone that has passed away, a mentor whose advice you could use, a relative you wish you lived closer to, someone you regret having an argument with, missing a pet.

So, see that bright pink prompt above? That's what I wrote about. Now let me tell you, there's not much I miss about my kids being younger - I actually love them as teens - now they're much more self sufficient (and not as demanding) but as my journalling will tell you there is one major thing that I struggle with now they're older......

This is the one major thing I dislike about them being "big kids" now - it's just not fair that I can't say "chouff chouff off to bed now" to my nearly 18 year old son - what's with that huh??!! lol

Once Upon A Sketch Jan 15 Challenge

Hey there....how's your day going?

It is a VERY wet day here...we've had inches of rain overnight and there's a severe weather warning for today so glad I can stay inside all dry and cozy:-))

Here is my photo for today for the January Photo Challenge....the prompt just happened to be WATER - well there's heaps of that around today....this is what our pergola looks like.....

Last night I had heaps of fun playing with the new challenge over at Once Upon A Sketch. Here are all the details -

Journalling Criteria:

HELLO 2012 or GOODBYE 2011?

For this challenge, the journalling theme is new beginnings, upcoming adventures but also saying goodbye to yet another year.. Are you glad 2011 is over? Are you looking forward to starting fresh in 2012? What are your goals or resolutions for the year ahead? What are you most looking forward to? Or maybe you can journal about your thoughts for the new year.

Things that you can journal about: a new job, house, baby or new scrapping adventures or Design Teams. Are you taking time off work? Are you planning a holiday somewhere? Maybe your children are starting school or you are getting a new pet. Or you could tell us why you are glad 2011 is over or why you will miss it. Anything goes really!

Another fantastic sketch and prompt from Nadia....here's my layout....

I love the idea of this journalling prompt so much I'm going to create another layout for "Hello 2012". I may even get to play a little today:-)

Baby Steps

Hey there....hope your week is going well.

We signed off on our new kitchen this afternoon so that's been a huge learning curve and a big decision to make but it's all set to go now - can't WAIT !!

I've been playing with the sweet Simple Stories Baby Steps range and have created a layout and a card.

I thought the card worked well for this week's The Shabby Tea Room Challenge which is 'Vintage Boudiour' and this gorgeous inspiration pic....what a fab piece of furniture!!

Here they are....

The Shabby Tea Room Challenge also requires you use a sewing related item.....my seam binding.... the teeny measuring tape detail and the faux stitched button and heart elements.

 

I also have my last couple of pics for the January Photo Challenge....here it is.....

My Daily Routine always involves cleaning up this.....

so that it looks more like this......aaaaagh I hate that it is a dumping ground for DH and the teens!!

Something from Childhood for the 10th....

....Mum gave me this little Scottish doll when I was in hospital, having a cyst removed....it's 37years old now!

...and for today - where I sleep....

Once Upon A Sketch January Take 2

Hey there....how has your Sunday been?

We headed up to Mt Tamborine today for a lovely lunch and a wander around...beautiful:-))

It was a hot, sunny day here....my January Photo Challenge photo proves it - take one look at this sky....

I'm back tonight to share my second attempt at the current Once Upon A Sketch challenge...and this one I am MUCH happier with:-)

Manor House Creations January Sketch

Hey there...today I have a layout to share for the January Sketch Challenge at Manor House Creations. It's a great sketch from Monika ....

I loved it so much I couldn't resist creating a layout.....to show DD's Xmas Wish List.....

Lots of her wishes came true.....but not the treadmill....or the braces.....although the braces could come off this month - fingers crossed :-))

Papers are of course from Manor House Creations - from the Scrap Cake's Cozy Xmas range.

Love the MHC flowers....I've used Taneisha (the pick one above); a red Velvetine; some Esperence and Airlie Blossoms (the aqua/white and grey above); and a Shimmers Snow....originally white but then glittered and glimmer misted to suit the layout.

 

Something else to share today is this....

 

I thought this would be a fun way to start the year....so here are my photos for Jan 1 and 2.....

An oldie....



Hey there....how's your Boxing Day going?

We hit the shops at 8:30am...it was great!....seriously....we had so much fun battling the crowds and getting lots of bargains.....on clothes/sheets/towels/Christmas decs....DD, hubbie and I:-))

Home again now and enjoying a quiet afternoon. The boys have gone fishing so it's going to be a nice crafty evening for me:-))

Last night I wanted to create with some new Kaisercraft Sweet Nothing goodies....I thought they'd work nicely with an old photo so I dug this one out from my 21st and off I went....

Tonight I have card making on my mind....a couple of current sketches to play with so I'm off to get inky.

Hey there...how's your day going?

Are you all ready for Chrissy yet??

I did a last quick grocery shop today...hmmm that was fun - what the!! - but it's all done now and we're ready for Christmas Day to arrive :)

It was the perfect opportunity for me to tell the story behind some cute photos of my hubbie and DD....

It's turned into a nice rainy afternoon here.....I looove rain:-))

We've just been away to the Sunshine Coast to celebrate my Mum and Dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary. To mark the occasion we had lunch at beautiful Flaxton Gardens...what a lovely part of the world :) Here are a few pics from our lunch....

December 15th Challenge

Journalling Criteria/theme: Our Christmas traditions.

We would love to hear how everyone spends Christmas Day. Even if you do NOT celebrate Christmas, what do you do on Christmas Day?

The one constant we have each Christmas is the kids wanting to "just stay home!". They don't want to go to anyone else's place for Christmas. Every year they ask "where are we going for Christmas?" and are delighted when we say we're staying home this year. So that's the memory I wanted to scrap....

I've used My Mind's Eye gorgeous Lost and Found Christmas range...yumm!

Much to their delight we are home for Christmas this year...just the four of us...enjoying our roast turkey Christmas lunch and Ice Cream pudding:-)

Once Upon A Sketch December

Hey there....hope you've had a great Monday.

We had a run-around-get-lots-of-jobs-done kind of day which was good to start the hols cause now they're DONE:)

I'm popping in to share my layout for the December 1st Challenge at Once Upon a Sketch. Here's the sketch and details....

Journalling Criteria/theme: The thing I look most forward to in December.

Well the thing I most look forward to in December is TIME......as my journalling will explain....

I've used Echo Parks' Victoria Gardens range, a Crafters Workshop butterfly template and Fancy Tags Two Nestie to house my title using AC Thickers....Sprinkles alpha:-)

I am really enjoying these wonderful sketches and journalling prompts :-)

So, tomorrow I'm off to see Breaking Dawn Pt 1 with DD....anyone seen it yet?? After that it's lunch and then Chrstmas shopping....just a few stocking fillers and I think I'm done - woohoo:-)
